DJI Flip's Sensing System

The Flip uses a forward 3D infrared sensing system and downward visual/infrared sensing. DJI specifies a forward sensing range of approximately 0.3–8 meters under suitable reflectivity conditions. 

That gives the aircraft a meaningful layer of protection.

But there is an important limitation.


Intelligent Tracking Does Not Mean Full Obstacle Avoidance

DJI explicitly states that intelligent functions, including subject tracking, do not support automatic braking.

Automatic braking is available in Normal and Cine modes and during Return-to-Home, with additional limitations depending on speed and operation. 

That is a crucial detail.

A creator should not interpret:

“AI tracking”

as:

“The drone can safely navigate anything.”

It cannot.
