They care whether the final photograph looks extraordinary.

And whether the video survives the edit.


The 8K Misunderstanding

Let's clarify something immediately.

The ATOM 2 does not record 8K video.

Its headline 8K capability refers to photography.

For video, the maximum resolution is:

4K at 24/25/30fps

The drone also supports 2.7K and Full HD at higher frame rates, with 1080p slow-motion modes. 

That's an important distinction.

Potensic's marketing headline is impressive:

But the actual camera story is more nuanced.

And, frankly, more interesting.


The 1/2-Inch Sensor

The ATOM 2 uses a 1/2-inch CMOS sensor with 48MP effective pixels

Bitrate

The maximum video bitrate is 80 Mbps

That's respectable for a compact travel drone.

But it reinforces the positioning.

The ATOM 2 supports P-Log, giving creators additional flexibility in post-production.

Log footage isn't automatically better.

This is where I'd actually want to use the ATOM 2.

The sun is dropping behind the mountains.

The sky is orange.

The foreground is getting dark.

The drone rises slowly.

The camera reveals the valley.

This is exactly the type of environment where the combination of:

can work together.


Low-Light Reality

There is still a physical limit.

A 1/2-inch sensor is small compared with the larger sensors found in premium drones.

As the light disappears:

The camera has already made the ATOM 2 interesting.

A 1/2-inch Sony sensor, f/1.8 lens, 48MP photography, 4K HDR and a 3-axis gimbal give it considerably more imaging credibility than its compact size suggests. 

But adventure is not a studio.

Out there, the conditions change.

The wind rises.

The GPS environment becomes complicated.

A mountain blocks the signal.
