A faster shutter means:

less exposure per frame.

So in the same light, you may need less ND at 120 fps than at 60 fps if you're targeting a roughly 180-degree shutter.

The latter allows roughly one stop less exposure time.


33. Don't Memorize ND by FPS

Frame rate changes your target shutter.

But:

the scene's actual light still determines the filter.

So don't use:

"60 fps = ND16."

That's not how exposure works.

1/120

and:

ISO 100.

If the image is too bright:

Add ND.

If the image is too dark:

Remove ND.

If there is no ND:
